Happily, we have this facility already and all users can access the 'LRC catalogue' from the Moodle pages (LRC Catalogue can be found on the right hand side).
By using the catalogue you can see what resources we have in our collection, where they are located and whether they are available. We can also set you up with a password (from September 2009, this will be automatic), so that you can renew items on loan to you (from home) and make reservations on resources that may be on loan to somebody else.
We are currently working on having dedicated 'catalogue' terminals so that you use these to find resources when you are in the LRCs.

More tables
We have made another 16 spaces at Grove Park since your request and will review this again during Summer 2009. At Bersham Road, we have used all available space but don't forget that you can also use the small pods for individual study.
More flexibility with group number on tables
We are sorry but we can't seem to please you on this request. Last year we allowed four around a table and had a couple of tables for larger groups. At Grove Park we now have the same tables as Bersham Road which allow 6 people around them and still you want more! Due to noise we think 6 is a very reasonable number and have checked with other college libraries around the country to see what they do - 6 is generous!
We have made one of the study rooms a group discussion room so if you need to work in a group of 8 this is your best option. We aren't being mean but we have all your needs to cater for and quite a lot of students want the LRCs to be quieter which will not happen if groups are too large.

Projectors, PCs, TVs for education purposes in some study rooms
We are glad to report that these facilities exist but we need to advertise what is available and where. We have also reviewed use of the rooms and made some changes to make access fairer - rooms can not be booked out all day so more people can have the opportunity of using this facility.
Poster explaining how to locate books
Our Bersham Road campus already had a poster which explained the system so we have duplicated this for Grove Park and these posters can be found at the end of the shelves. Please ask if you would like some further help with this.
Better advertisement of quiet study rooms
This comment has spurred us on to think more about how we advertise our services. When we asked the groups who attended the 'Student Planning Event', the answer was...posters! So we haved produced posters that are around college advertising some of our services and are currently planning other marketing tools as well. It has helped us to realise that we need to imporve in this area
Thanks for the suggestion.

Open on a weekend
Unfortuntely we can not open on the weekend as the college is completely closed however, you can use Wrexham Library which has computer access and also Glyndwr University as a place to study (but there is no access to computers there). We have a number of 'electronic resources' which you can access from home - further information is available on the Moodle pages.
To help with revision, the LRC at Grove Park is now opening at 8am in the mornings until the end of May.

Advertise the fact we can access books from Glyndwr via Yale
At the moment students can use Glyndwr library and providing you take your student identity card with you, you can borrow up to 2 items. Currently we do not obtain the books for you from Glyndwr but this will be changing over the Summer. If you ask us to obtain a book for you we sometimes use other sources for the request.
You can return books for Glyndwr or Wrexham Library to the LRC and we will ensure their safe return.
You reminded us about advertising and we have produced posters which you can see around college to remind you of this facility. We will also ensure information is on the LRC Moodle pages too. Thanks for the suggestion

More copies of important/frequently used books
The LRC stock collection policy will allow us to purchase up to 10 copies of popular textbooks where there is sufficient demand. These books are likely to be out on loan quite frequently so it is worth remembering to place a request for a copy which you can do in person or online. However, we may not have 10 copies in certain areas and if you feel there is a specific lack of copies, please let us know and we will do the best we can to rectify the matter.
Apple Macs for student use
Some art/media students have commented that there should be a few Macs in the LRC at Grove Park because their work is done on these in the Mac suite and there are no other facilities available elsewhere.
We spoke with the IT and Learner Services Manager who has confirmed that two Macs are planned for the LRC but there is currently a software licensing problem to address which has held up progress. We will keep you posted.

Working Scanners
After this comment, we reviewed access to scanners in both LRCs and can report that there is a working scanner on PC number 16 at Bersham Road and we have relocated the scanner at Grove Park to a PC adjacent to the IT Student Helpdesk and there is a further scanner in our study room on the 1st Floor (B-1-09). There were a couple of issues with the scanners so we are grateful for your comments which have allowed us to address these.
Not enough computers in the LRC/Wi-Fi access
A large number of you have complained about the lack of computer facilities on the Grove Park campus. During the February half term, we installed an extra 20 computers on the second floor of the LRC in the quiet zone. Just before Easter we also installed Wi-Fi in the LRC at Grove Park following the LRC's successful bid to the Welsh Assembly Government (under the Libraries for Life programme).
These two events have increased capacity on the Grove Park campus and we will shortly be installing Wi-Fi in the LRC at Bersham Road.
